The PC Maintenance Technician possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.     SUMMARY:

    Iowa Ortho is looking for a motivated individual who enjoys thinking on their feet, working hands-on, and proactively diagnosing situations to avoid disruption in day-to-day operations. The Maintenance Technician focuses on the functionality, repair, and maintenance of all our Iowa Ortho facilities. Our facilities department is responsible for providing an environment that supports productivity and minimizes risk for physicians, employees, and our patients of Iowa Ortho. 


    The Maintenance Tech performs work independently under the direction of their leader. This position will include general plumbing, HVAC, electrical and grounds maintenance, along with working with subcontractors to maintain the excellence of services set forth by Iowa Ortho. Skills necessary for success will include knowledge of all operational functions on the property and building systems. This may include functions such as maintenance, painting, and carpentry.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Exercises independent judgment for accomplishing tasks within instructions and pre-established guidelines. 
    • Maintains accurate and detailed logs and information for the compliance with state, federal and Joint Commission agencies
    • Must be able to direct work of others, such as contractor or employees, as required.
    • Maintain a level of service to each client that meets or exceeds expectations.
    • Provides prompt, courteous and excellent service to all clients and operates within accordance of Iowa Ortho policies and procedures. 
    • Actively cooperate and interact with all Iowa Ortho business units to maintain a productive work environment.
    • Present a positive image of Iowa Ortho in terms of professionalism, courtesy and friendliness which is a direct reflection of the facilities maintained and through daily interactions.
    • Follow through on assignments, set priorities, recognize problems and optimize the use of time.
    • Display effective oral and written communication skills which can be demonstrated through professional and thorough interactions with the clients and documenting work performed to meet assigned duties or projects.
    • Keeps management informed of issues by providing open, honest and timely communications.
    • Charged with coffee station management and the delivery of such products to other offices.
    • Perform periodic and planned inspections of facilities in order to observe condition of the property and initiate repairs as needed (i.e. Gauge inspection and tracking.) 
    • Work on small construction projects as requested. (i.e. Painting, flooring, voltage, lighting, FRP application)
    • Works directly with management, HR and staff to maintain a safe, OSHA compliant, facility for patients, physicians, staff and visitors.
    • Furniture assembly, moving assistance when needed.
    • Assists with other duties as assigned
    • Must be able to regularly attend work and be self motivated.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • High school diploma
    • One plus years of experience in facilities or building trades
    • Preferred: Advanced technical designation or degree related to field experience

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES 

    • Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and pay strict attention to detail
    • Analytical, organizational, and problem solving skill set
    • Excellent oral and written communication skill set
    • Business knowledge in the medical or facilities field· Strong mechanical aptitude
    • Preferred: Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, engineering and general building maintenance skills
    • Basic computer skills

    • Ability to be on feet for up to 8 hours, standing and walking
    • Ability to drive safely and following all state laws of vehicle operations
    • Use of hands, fingers, and sense of feeling, and visual skills required for use of computer
    • Ability to lift/move up to 25 pounds
    • Ability to bend, stoop, and twist
    • Ability to read, write, speak and hear the English language without translation.
