PC Maintenance Technician installs, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems, hardware, and computer peripherals. Resolves internal user problems and ensures correct operation of personal computers. Being a PC Maintenance Technician maintains parts inventory and logs all service/repair activity. May perform system setups for new hires. Additionally, PC Maintenance Technician may require an associate degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a project leader or supervisor. The PC Maintenance Technician possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Description: Job Purpose: To provide technical support of the microcomputer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment. Job Description: 1. Executes work requests for microcomputer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment needs initiated by end users. This may include assigning tasks to microcomputer technicians, performing installations, end user training. 2. Defines and coordinates preventative maintenance activities related to microcomputers. 3. Assists in the definition and coordination of microcomputer configuration standards. 4. Maintains an inventory of all microcomputer equipment, including peripheral devices. Skills: TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS Minimum: Knowledge of microcomputer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment. Knowledge of Windows Operating System. YEARS OF RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum: 2 years direct experience in microcomputer hardware and software operation, management, and repair. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES: Works independently and must be able to prioritize tasks and handle multiple priorities. Ability to interact with end users at all levels of knowledge of microcomputers. The employee communicates effectively. Ability to teach and demonstrate to end users how to utilize hardware and software.
