Package Design Manager leads the planning, design, and creation of packaging artwork for an organization. Utilizes graphic arts design techniques and tools to create compelling package designs that reflect the organization's branding and marketing objectives. Being a Package Design Manager incorporates industry practices and any regulatory requirements into package designs. Ensures that design and branding standards are utilized consistently for all packaging. Additionally, Package Design Manager collaborates with production, marketing, vendors, and other stakeholders to deliver designs that meet all requirements and adhere to the budget. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in industrial design, art, graphic design or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Package Design Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Package Design Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. A Typical Day Here
The first part of the day is usually receiving packages from Fedex, UPS, and the Post, entering in each package into our system, and then putting it onto a warehouse shelf. After packages are put away, it's mostly customer service, such as shipping or retrieving packages for customers and handling payments.
Work Culture
We're a small business with only a few employees. We're easy to get along with, and our customers are usually very friendly. Schedules are flexible, so if something comes up, there is usually someone available to cover the shift. There is always something to do here, so time goes by very quickly.
Attitude & Ability
We are looking for a positive, energetic person.
The ability to move packages up to 50 lbs is required, but not often. Most packages are less than 20 lbs.
We have expanded to 2 floors, so climbing stairs, and being on your feet most of the day is required.
Attention to Detail
Must have good attention to detail.
Communication Skills
This job involves dealing with many customers on a daily basis. Having good communication skills is a must.
Computer Literacy
Our systems are all computerized. Having strong computer skills is required.
Experience
Prior experience working in a shipping/receiving warehouse would be preferred, but is definitely not required. It's not a problem if you have little or no work experience, we'll train you.
Location
We're in Sumas WA. It's a 15-20 minute drive from neighboring communities like Lynden, Everson, and Maple Falls. From past experience if you live in Bellingham, it's probably too long of a commute. If you live in Sumas, you can walk here.
Hours & Shifts
We have a position available that is usually 4 days a week, 6 to 8 hours per day. Working Saturdays is required about every 3 weeks. We are closed Sundays.
