Package Design Manager leads the planning, design, and creation of packaging artwork for an organization. Utilizes graphic arts design techniques and tools to create compelling package designs that reflect the organization's branding and marketing objectives. Being a Package Design Manager incorporates industry practices and any regulatory requirements into package designs. Ensures that design and branding standards are utilized consistently for all packaging. Additionally, Package Design Manager collaborates with production, marketing, vendors, and other stakeholders to deliver designs that meet all requirements and adhere to the budget. The Design Integration Manager Responsibilities will include:
1. Pre-proposal / Proposal Planning & Coordination:
· Prepare a recommended list of designers, consultants, design-build trade partners and suppliers for strategic project pursuits.
· Negotiate teaming agreements in concert with the EVP and/or Regional RVP/SVP with potential designers, consultants and design-build trade partners for design and consulting services.
· Work closely with designers and consultants to develop scope of services necessary for successful project execution.
· Prepare a preliminary design and preconstruction services schedule.
· Develop a conceptual budget for design and preconstruction services.
· Assist in preparing proposal responses for strategic project pursuits.
2. Design and Interdisciplinary Coordination:
· Collaborate with architects, engineers, and other designers to understand project design concepts and requirements.
· Ensure that design specifications align with construction feasibility, regulations and the proposal submitted to the client.
· Review and analyze design documents for accuracy and completeness.
· Set goals for meetings, then plan these meetings for effective implementation with the project team.
· Establish a communication plan, meeting(s) schedule and expectations for design execution with project team.
· Facilitate communication and coordination between various teams involved in the design and construction process.
· Work closely with architects, engineers, and construction managers to address design challenges and find practical solutions.
· Document design meetings and commitments made therein for team accountability and further action.
3. Budget and Schedule Management:
· Work closely with Preconstruction Services to ensure design aligns with project budget.
· Collaborate with project managers to align design timelines with construction schedules.
· Refine, manage and oversee the design schedule to align with design deliverable milestone commitments.
· Monitor and manage the preconstruction / design budget against actual costs.
· Create and maintain a design changes log to document any associated cost for further action with the client and internal project team.
· Monitor procurement schedule with the construction team to coincide with design deliverable deadlines committed to by the design team.
4. Quality Assurance:
· Work closely with VP of Quality / Schedule to implement quality control measures to ensure that design standards are maintained throughout the construction phase.
· Prepare coordination and constructability reviews during the course of design to assist the team in
identifying ambiguities and conflicts during construction.
· When requested, conduct site visits to verify that construction aligns with the approved design.
· Facilitate meetings with AHJs to discuss specific permit, inspection and code compliance matters and requirements.
· Mediate and resolve design questions and concerns between client and designers.
· Build a supportive team culture.
· Facilitate the project closeout documentation process on select projects.
· Assist in documenting key design changes and communications with AHJs during construction.
5. Risk Management:
· Coordinate with project partners to develop a register log outlining potential project risks for review and discussion with team.
· Identify potential risks and challenges related to design integration.
· Develop proactive strategies to mitigate risks and address issues promptly.
· Document the initial “basis of design” and review client’s program/scope to reconcile any differences between the same.
· Confirm design aligns with construction budget.
· Prepare, manage and oversee execution of design and design assist agreements with architects, engineers, consultants and trade partners alike.
· Document the final basis of design and client approval of final design documents.
6. Technology Integration:
· Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements related to design and construction integration.
· Explore and implement innovative technologies that enhance the efficiency of design integration processes.
