Senior Store Manager, Los Angeles
  • Peak Design
  • Los Angeles, CA FULL_TIME
  • ABOUT US

The purpose of Peak Design is to create happy, meaningful lives for the people that work here. We believe this purpose can only be achieved when self-actualizing, highly stoked people enthusiastically step into (or log onto) the Peak Design office every day. Our purpose and our mission go hand-in-hand and we encourage and celebrate authenticity and the unique perspective each of our employees brings. We’re a close-knit team that thrives on mutual respect and the belief that every voice matters—especially when it’s got something interesting to say.

We make radical, meticulously-engineered gear for detail-obsessed people. Our backpacks, travel bags, camera gear, and phone accessories are used dang-near everywhere. If you’ve visited Machu Picchu, Tokyo, or an REI store in the last 10 years, you’ve been within ogling distance of a Peak Design product.

Alongside our award-winning gear is a brand that truly reflects who we are as people—passionate about design, deeply caring about our environmental and social impact, unafraid to speak up, radically transparent, and generally down to clown. Whether we’re explaining a product, running a sale, launching a nonprofit, sponsoring a film, or razzing the biggest company on Earth, we do it with our trademark honesty, warmth, and wit. Through our products and our brand, we aim to create delight, and leave this world better than how we found it.

    ABOUT THE JOB

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to be the dynamic heart of our store, fueling our customers' love for our award-winning products with your boundless energy and meticulous attention to detail. You'll be the orchestrator of our retail experience, blending the roles of a sales ambassador, product guru, community builder, and customer support champion. We need someone to own the essence of our brand within the store's walls, ensuring it's a vibrant and welcoming space. As our fearless store leader, you'll inspire our sales team, design flexible schedules, and cultivate a joyful work environment. You'll lead our mission to enrich our community calendar and establish deeper connections with customers, like-minded brands, and our local neighbors. Your adeptness in managing our stockroom will ensure it's always brimming, our customers will leave with elation, and our store will become the go-to destination in the neighborhood. You'll figure out what works, discern trends, and know precisely when to innovate. We're looking for an individual who can skillfully combine all these elements, a person who thrives in the ever-evolving world of retail and knows that sometimes, bucking the trends is the key to making a lasting impact.

    A day in the life:
    • Start your morning with an artisan cup o’ joe (you are on Abbot Kinney) and enter your sparkling new retail home. Greet your team and ensure the store is in tip-top shape—not a strap out of place.

    • Rally your team in a morning huddle, review their daily tasks, and get folks hyped. Then kick open those doors and welcome in all our customers.

    • Fire up the ol’ laptop to check Slack, email and get acquainted with your to-do list for the day. Maybe you take a call with another brand on the block to plan a community event or maybe you are reviewing product training materials for our newest gear that’s about to launch.

    • If it’s Tuesday, don’t forget to put in a lunch order for you and the team. It’s on us!

    • Mix it up on the sales floor to knock out the post-lunch sleepies. Chat with customers, check in with your team, and ensure everyone who enters, even your staff, leaves with giant smiles.

    • Now you’re back at your desk checking sales numbers, adjusting next month’s shifts, scheduling vendor payments, and flushing out talking points for your next team meeting.

    • One last call with our Retail Ops Lead is to chat through the new window display installs and inventory planning adjustments.

    • Log off for the day and enjoy some time away from the screen (or maybe even people). Perhaps that’s a post-work bike ride, team outing, or spending quality time with friends and family.
