Package Design Manager leads the planning, design, and creation of packaging artwork for an organization. Utilizes graphic arts design techniques and tools to create compelling package designs that reflect the organization's branding and marketing objectives. Being a Package Design Manager incorporates industry practices and any regulatory requirements into package designs. Ensures that design and branding standards are utilized consistently for all packaging. Additionally, Package Design Manager collaborates with production, marketing, vendors, and other stakeholders to deliver designs that meet all requirements and adhere to the budget. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in industrial design, art, graphic design or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Package Design Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Role and Responsibilities
This role will be responsible for managing the quality team and processes in an AS9100 machining facility in accordance with the internal policy and procedures as well as customer requirements. The focus of this role will be managing priorities of the quality team that aligns with business and customer requirements while maintaining world class quality requirements.
· Manage a team of quality engineers, inspectors, and CMM programmers.
· Measure and evaluate parts for dimensional/visual conformity using calibrated gauges/equipment
· Perform or delegate first piece, first article and in-process inspections
· Review supplier certifications for accuracy
· Responsible for all First Article Reports (AS9102) being reviewed for accuracy and compliance
· Consistently evaluate inspection methods for efficiency and communicate opportunities for improvement to Senior Management
· Develop best practices, work instructions, placards and advance quality plans that capture all critical features of manufactured parts.
· Schedule, prioritize, delegate, track all work coming in and out of department based on needs communicated by Planning/Operations
· Manage, monitor, and develop the Quality department employees in accordance with the business needs and processes
· Communicate with planning regarding capacity constraints, priorities, bottlenecks
· Escalate quality issues to sales, supply chain or operations for disposition or further direction
· Communicate with department leads or Foreman regarding systemic or major findings
· Prepare for and attend Material Review Board meetings (MRB)
· Initiate root cause investigations
· Develop and implement corrective action planning
· Ensure that findings are documented in accordance with NC, tagging, MRB procedures
· Schedule service and calibration through purchasing for all CMMs, comparators, vision systems, software, etc.
· Correspond directly with service techs to troubleshoot equipment failures, alarms, resets etc.
· Escort customer SQA through source inspection/quality audit activities as needed
