Job Summary
Ensures line coverage for the assigned shift, referencing the Shift Schedule, to assist in this process, as well as direction from the Team Leader. Coordinates and executes packaging tasks as defined in Production/Packaging schedule and in Shift Assignment Log. Maintains safe and sanitary conditions of the packaging areas including, execution of sanitation list (MSS) and work area organization. Ensures a high quality of product is being packed and shipped to the customer; with an emphasis being place on eliminating mixed product, and foreign material.
Essential Functions
· Reviews production/packaging schedule and task list daily and maintains packaging operations to meet scheduling requirements.
· Facilitates team meetings before the shift to review schedule and tasks that are essential.
· Executes direction from Manufacturing Manager as defined in Daily Assignment Log and verbal instruction. Ensure packers work in a safe and organized manner and report unsafe conditions when observed.
· Communicates any issues effecting packaging quality/efficiency to the Manufacturing Manager in a timely manner.
· Monitors and ensure proper operation of packaging lines by working with shift mechanic and Manufacturing Manager. Provide assistance and direction as needed. Communicate equipment deficiencies to the Manufacturing Manager through reports.
· Coordinates proper execution of repack projects.
· Coordinates staging and placement of finished product into the warehouse, with the cooperation of the lead shipper.
· Oversees and assists with packaging changeovers as needed. Ensures the tools and equipment (i.e. screens) is available for each line daily.
· Audits packaging paperwork on a regular basis (as defined) through direct involvement (i.e. actual measuring, etc.)
· Keeps packaging lines stocked with needed supplies. Report any low inventory levels as observed.
· Directs quality assurance functions on shift, related to the disposition of product in packaging (i.e. when to start packaging, placing material on hold, calling for Q/A support, etc.).
· Assigns product repacks of damaged product on shift to packers, needs to be completed prior to leaving shift.
· Assists in maintaining organization of the warehouse.
· Coordinates breaks and lunches for the crew, ensuring 1 person department at a time.
· Maintains tool inventories, pack stations and forklifts.
· Other duties as assigned by Team Lead or Manager
Essential Job Requirements
· Must have a high school diploma.
· 2 years experience in manufacturing, food manufacturing preferred
· Ability to supervise, direct and organize multiple employees at any given time.
· Must be familiar with computers
· Must have forklift skills
· Must be able to work in an environment with high heat and humidity
