JOB SUMMARY

Responsibilities include packaging design and verification, cost analysis, packaging drawing review, managing project schedules, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. This role will continually enhance the packaging design and development process resulting in increased customer satisfaction and reduced cost.  

The packaging supervisor will be responsible for the overall daily operations of the Packaging Department, while working with minimal supervision from management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Work with the sales team and customers to provide effective solutions for the customer’s product through assessment of information provided and translating it into creative structural design solutions, considering visual and structural integrity and cost-effective manufacturability and assembly.
• Create designs in a variety of formats and materials, including structural prototypes of packaging, three-dimensional drawings, photographs, illustrative renderings, technical drawings, and assembly instructions.
• Create graphic designs and digital implementation.
• Manages and disseminates information, prototypes, and electronic files through the entire design process into production, assembly, and placement.
• Packaging cutting and assembling department supervision
• Enhance existing concepts or designs

Supervision:

• Monitor shift activities; provide direct instruction to production employees.
• Ensure adequate staffing levels to meet production demands.
• Train, supervise, monitor and review the performance of production employees
• Evaluate manpower levels, focusing on machine capacities with maximum efficiency of employee strengths.
• Daily evaluation of production lines to ensure maximum output with minimal labor.
• Understand company goals and evaluate line speeds, and labor to ensure that company targets are met or exceeded daily.
• Provide leadership and direction to all packaging employees, while continuously working to achieve company goals.
• Generate and process all pertinent reports (i.e. Production records, E2, etc.).
• Responsible for safety and security of the production area.
• Complete line audits.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Packaging, Industrial Design, or equivalent work experience with evidence of exceptional ability
• Shift supervision experience
• Working knowledge of CAD, and technical drawings
• Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience preferred, can accept internship experience
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes
• Strong knowledge in a large variety of materials, but most especially foam
• Experience with designing to standards
• Strong understanding of packaging testing and validation
• Capable of managing multiple priorities at once without sacrificing quality of results
• Proficient at-risk management and communication
• Team player with strong process and continuous improvement mindset
