POSITION TITLE: PACKAGING EQUIPMENT ENGINEER
Selected candidate should ideally be in the near vicinity of Long Island, NY since the role is hybrid onsite.
Project duration is 3-4 months with possibility of extension and is for one of our global customers in the nutraceutical industry.
Working arrangement could be part time (around 20-25 hours per week)
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Packaging Engineer / Packaging Equipment Engineer / Mechanical Packaging Engineer: This position is within the Pharmaceutical Business Unit, with a strong focus on developing packaging innovations for global growth platforms from concept through feasibility and executions, for pharmaceutical products. This will require working closely with Business Teams, Global Operations, Functional Partners, BU Packaging Teams, External Suppliers and Open Innovation resources
The successful candidate will be expected to handle a variety of technical packaging equipment and manufacturing related challenges and provide technical support to operations and BU Packaging partners. In addition, successful candidates will implement new and modified packaging equipment systems which are efficient, cost effective and sustainability-friendly, which will be used for multiple plant facilities. Additional equipment and validation projects may also be offered to the Engineer during or after the term of this project.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support packaging manufacturing and plant efforts as part of a holistic team, including (but not limited to): Manufacturing, Engineering, R&D, and third-party equipment vendors and manufacturing facilities.
Coordinate and interact with members of the supporting team, regarding the installation, commissioning and validation of packaging equipment, as well as the implementation of new packaging systems.
Generating packaging related documentation (specifications, test protocols, reports and recommendations, etc.)
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
Extensive experience conducting packaging equipment line trials (including equipment operating parameter development)
Experience with packaging equipment commissioning and qualification processes/requirements for packaging equipment, including the linkage between equipment and packaging components
Experience with packaging validation processes and requirements
Extensive packaging component design knowledge and experience
Knowledge/experience with packaging equipment
Expertise in Pharmaceuticals and nutraceuticals products (liquids, powders, supplements)

BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering
Extensive Experience working with Equipment in the area of Packaging, Package Engineering.
At least 5 years of experience
Sound knowledge of packaging fundamentals and converting processes
Sound knowledge of packaging requirements and packaging processes relating to the commercial start-up of a manufacturing plant
Sound knowledge of packaging equipment
Thorough understanding of the packaging development and commercialization process
