Packaging Machine Operator sets up and operates a packaging machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Fills, secures, and labels containers according to company and/or customer specifications. Being a Packaging Machine Operator verifies goods packaged against package invoices. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Additionally, Packaging Machine Operator adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. Documents inventory number and weight, and organizes packages. May make minor repairs to packaging equipment as needed. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Packaging Machine Operator works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. These are temp-to-hire positions. There are multiple shifts available.
Specialty Operator (Grinder): The schedule is Monday to Thursday 7:00 am to 5:30 pm, Friday and Saturday as needed for overtime. The starting pay rate is $19.24 per hour.
Night Shift Machine Operator (Saw/Plasma Cutter): The schedule is Sunday to Wednesday 7:00 pm to 5:30 pm, Thursday and Friday as needed for overtime. The starting pay rate is $17.97 per hour plus a $1.50 per hour shift differential.
The Machine Operator sets up and operates machines, and may use blueprints, make adjustments for materials used, verify dimensional requirements, and transfer materials to storage areas. The Operator works with oversize and awkward-sized materials that may require specialized handling.
Responsibilities:
- Setup and operate various equipment including CNC machines, basic and manual drills, electric hand tools (grinders, drills, saws) and other metal processing equipment
- Perform basic troubleshooting of assigned equipment and competency to perform operator level maintenance items such as workstation cleaning, gauge reading and physical inspections
- Read blueprints and general measuring equipment to adhere to drawing tolerances and customer specifications- General upkeep of work area utilizing 5S
- Support other areas as needed
- Other duties as assigned
