Packaging Machine Operator jobs in Lawrence, MA
Packaging Machine Operator sets up and operates a packaging machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Fills, secures, and labels containers according to company and/or customer specifications. Being a Packaging Machine Operator verifies goods packaged against package invoices. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Additionally, Packaging Machine Operator adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. Documents inventory number and weight, and organizes packages. May make minor repairs to packaging equipment as needed. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Packaging Machine Operator works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Position: Machine Operator - Finisher/Diecutter
Key Responsibilities
- Operate finisher/diecutter to produce job according to specification.
- Make ready finisher/diecutter.
- Load substrate, install tooling and rewind press rolls.
- Ensure that print, die cutting, and label count meet specifications.
- Web press rolls through the finisher/diecutter and adjust feed and tension controls.
- Search for and correct problems.
- Inspect labels while finisher/diecutter is running.
- Make quick corrections to avoid expensive losses of substrate.
- Oil and clean the finisher/diecutter and make minor repairs.
- Perform preventive maintenance.
Requirements
- Machine operator experience a plus.
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking ability
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving
- A team player with great communication skills
- Physical strength and stamina – must be able to load printed rolls into rewinder up to 150lbs with the use of a roll mover.
