Position Summary

The Bag Machine Operator is responsible for operating a bag converting machine with an in-line, three-color, flexographic press. The operator is responsible for equipment size changes, running adjustments, maintenance and monitoring equipment function during production. Operators must maintain a safe operating area while achieving high-quality standards and meeting production goals.

Job Duties:

• Responsible for operation, size changes and all standard maintenance for the bag machine
• Responsible for plate-mounting, set-up, operation and maintenance of the flexographic press
• Detailed attention to the requirements of each job and adherence to all plant procedures and programs in order to produce high-quality, safe, and compliant products
• Detailed attention to the production schedule to maximize output and minimize equipment downtime
• Compliance with all recording, logging and reporting requirements for production
• Maintain equipment functionality through efficient operation and adjustments while running
• Effectively troubleshoot maintenance issues, request parts and or repairs as needed
• Communicate regularly with area manager and operations on job status and production
• Train, oversee and communicate effectively with packers to ensure quality product, efficient operations and quick reporting of product deficiencies
• Responsible for ensuring that packers follow all SOP’s, safety programs, quality standards and comply with production requirements
• Work independently and stay focused on safety, output and equipment function
• Comply with safety procedures and processes and the personnel policy
• Move skids with pallet jacks and lift/move cases (up to 40 lbs) as needed

Qualifications:

• Experience operating a bag converting machine, preferred
• Experience operating a flexographic press, preferred
• Work independently, actively address visual needs, stay on task and operate thoughtfully
• Work and stand for 8 hour shifts as the schedule demands, willing to work overtime
