Packaging Machine Operator sets up and operates a packaging machine in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Fills, secures, and labels containers according to company and/or customer specifications. Being a Packaging Machine Operator verifies goods packaged against package invoices. Reads and interprets blueprints and diagrams to select, position and secure machinery. Additionally, Packaging Machine Operator adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately, according to specifications, and in a timely fashion. Documents inventory number and weight, and organizes packages. May make minor repairs to packaging equipment as needed. May have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Packaging Machine Operator works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work as part of a team in support of a manufacturing operation with a goal of increasing productivity, decreasing downtime and waste.
Responsible for leading machine crew with setups and changeovers by mounting printing plates and/or cutting dies.
Conduct quality checks to ensure product meets required dimensions and there are zero material defects.
Follow all company safety rules and lock-out tag-out procedures.
Problem solve when issues arise with machine.
Perform other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED.
Be passionate about maintaining a safe work environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and possess problem-solving skills.
Ability to work any shift, including overtime and weekends as needed.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in a packaging or other manufacturing environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Must be willing to work closely on a day-to-day basis with other production personnel.
Excellent communication skills.
Work with a sense of urgency to reduce downtime of machines.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
