Packaging Manager manages and oversees the packaging staff on designated shift to achieve operational objectives. Observes, analyzes, and researches packaging line operation to develop and implement scientific and efficient process. Being a Packaging Manager implements quality control check to ensure the packaging meets environment, health, and safety regulations. Provides staff with directions on materials and equipment for each package. Additionally, Packaging Manager may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Packaging Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    To Perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function.

    • Responsible for establishing goals and metrics for functional area and drive the team to meet or exceed these goals and metrics.

    • Work across the organization to ensure availability and accuracy of inventory. Maintain accurate records of all transactions.

    • Effectively develop departmental budgets and reports.

    • Partner with internal and external customers to identify customer requirements to ensure that their needs are met in a timely and accurate manner.

    • Maintain staffing level to accomplish packaging operations in an effective and efficient manner; prepare work schedules to meet customer requirements and expectations and company schedules and specifications; use independent judgment to assign team member work duties to meet operational requirements; make sure team members and co-workers have the information needed to perform their job duties; approve leave and overtime as appropriate.

    • Lead regular and periodic department meetings; ensure labor and other expenses are in line with budget.

    • Maintain good housekeeping and regularly clean work area, machines, and equipment, ensuring area is clean.

    • Continually evaluate processes, make recommendations, and implement improvements to optimize efficiency. Establish and document standard operating procedures and ensure the team is adhering to them. Drive continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs or increase productivity without reducing effectiveness.

    • Lead team members in a manner that enables growth and success through feedback, training, and encouragement.

    • Establish performance expectations for team members and provide regular feedback and performance reviews to ensure that team members understand how their job duties support the company’s mission and have the right tools/resources to do their jobs well.

    • Investigate performance concerns and implement disciplinary action, up to and including termination, as needed and in compliance with company procedures and with consultation with the human resources department.

    • Collaborate with Human Resources on complaints and performance concerns and implement disciplinary action, up to and including termination, as needed and in compliance with company procedures.

    • Work with human resources department to manage hiring process for direct reports; interview and select candidates for hire in compliance with company processes.

    • Adhere to established company values, practices, policies, and procedures at all times. Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards.

    • Maintain an open and candid working relationship with immediate supervisor/manager in discussing matters of importance.

    • Demonstrate regular and punctual attendance at the assigned work location.

    MINIMUM EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS

    An individual qualified for this job must have and maintain the following qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration or related field.

    • 5 years of increasingly responsible management experience, or a satisfactory combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the above duties.

    ENVIROMENTAL CONDITIONS

    • The individual will work in an office setting in the same room as other individuals. Noise levels are average for an office and include conversation and/or office equipment noise.

    • While reviewing operations and associate work practices, the individual will also be expected to work in a warehouse environment, which may include being exposed to work in high, precarious places, outdoor weather conditions, dust, and extreme heat or cold.
