SUMMARY:
We work in the six-county Chicago area and occasionally travel out of state for projects for periods of time of up to six weeks. When painters travel, a daily per diem is provided to defray costs for gas and food. Hotel expenses are covered by the company.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities are essential in the daily execution of the position:
• Apply paint to exterior/interior surfaces including canvas, walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.
• Remove wallpaper.
• Mix, match, and apply paint, varnish, shellac, enamel, and other finishes.
• Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting.
• Clean walls to ensure proper adherence.
• Cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection.
• Calculate amounts of required materials.
• Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
• Erect scaffolding, movable staging and various rigging to gain access to difficult areas; move furniture and equipment as necessary.
• Apply several coats according to paint directions.
• Tape off areas when needed.
• Remove paint splatters when finished.
• Clean up all equipment, including brushes and spray guns.
• Utilize spray guns for large jobs.
• Hang wallpaper.
• Work on ladders to reach high ceilings or walls.
• Apply paint to exterior/interior surfaces including canvas, walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.
Education / Experience Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent. Vocation school graduate or at least 2 years of experience painting.
Qualifications:
MUST POSSESS YOUR OWN PERSONAL TOOLS AND A VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE WITH ACCESS TO A VEHICLE
• 2 years verifiable experience with residential/commercial painting
• Must be willing to periodically travel for up to six weeks.
• Experience with interior/exterior brush and roll surfaces
• Skilled with spray coating on various surfaces and applications
• Experience with brush and roll, various paints, coatings, applications, spray coating experience
• Experience with wallpaper removal and wall prep is preferred
• Committed to starting and completing job
• Possess tools of the trade and painter's whites
• Strong work ethic
• Able to lift up to 50lbs
