Being a Paralegal drafts and edits legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and contracts. Conducts fact-finding, data collection, and analysis used to prepare statements and arguments. Additionally, Paralegal assists attorneys with depositions, interviews, discovery, and investigations. Manages, organizes, and archives documents with software tools and technology. Applies specialized legal terminology appropriately in documents. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to an attorney. Reputable, well-established law firm based in Columbia, SC, with a second location on Daniel Island in Charleston, SC, is seeking a paralegal to support the Daniel Island office. Job duties include but are not limited to keeping cases organized by establishing client files, monitoring calendars for impending deadlines, scheduling depositions, preparing case materials, reviewing and filing court documents, participating in client meetings, reviewing and organizing discovery documents, assisting lawyers with keeping clients informed, and providing trial support. The position will also serve as remote support for the Columbia office attorneys as needed.
College degree preferred. Relevant work experience is preferred but not required. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills and excellent skills with Microsoft Word and Excel.
