Utilizes a variety of sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to research and analyze legal topics. Being a Paralegal drafts and edits legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and contracts. Conducts fact-finding, data collection, and analysis used to prepare statements and arguments. Additionally, Paralegal assists attorneys with depositions, interviews, discovery, and investigations. Manages, organizes, and archives documents with software tools and technology. Applies specialized legal terminology appropriately in documents. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to an attorney. Essential Job Functions
· Maintain calendar deadlines
· Schedule depositions, pre-depositions, meetings, mediations, hearings
· Document management using Microsoft Outlook, Aderant Total Office, Word, WordPerfect, Excel, Adobe
· E-file legal documents in Florida’s E-Portal System
· Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, mediations, hearings, and conferences.
· Draft legal court documents, such as pleadings, petitions, motions, affidavits and subpoenas.
· Send out correspondence to parties/non-parties via email, regular mail, or certified mail.
· Communicate with clients.
· Perform additional duties as required by Attorneys.
Experience/Requirements
· Experience Required in First and Third Party Insurance Disputes, Products Liability, Pre-Suit Support, Employment/ Labor Law including Employment Discrimination
· At least 2 years of working experience as a paralegal or in legal services in a law firm setting
· Experience e-filing
· Ability to manage a heavy workload in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to communicate with clients and co-workers effectively and efficiently
· Possess excellent organization skills and be able to multitask and prioritize workload
· Team-oriented
