Paralegal assists and supports attorneys with research and document preparation for court proceedings and legal transactions. Utilizes a variety of sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to research and analyze legal topics. Being a Paralegal drafts and edits legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and contracts. Conducts fact-finding, data collection, and analysis used to prepare statements and arguments. Additionally, Paralegal assists attorneys with depositions, interviews, discovery, and investigations. Manages, organizes, and archives documents with software tools and technology. Applies specialized legal terminology appropriately in documents. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to an attorney. The Paralegal work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. To be a Paralegal typically requires 4 -7 years of related experience. Paralegal
Prepare court filings, court forms, administer probate and trust estates, set up court hearings, maintain office and court calendar, answer phones, process mail, and manage client intake and client communications. Mandatory requirements:
· At least 3 consecutive years working in one law office.
· Probate and/or litigation.
· Detail-oriented and work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
· Process files for a law office.
· E-file document with courts.
· Strong work ethic, self-motivated, self-starter.
· Excellent computer skills, including Adobe Acrobat Professional (including, assembling and bookmarking PDF documents, Bates stamping and redacting documents using Adobe Acrobat), Dropbox, Gmail, office calendaring, billing, and all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel).
· Scan documents and maintain documents on cloud programs, e.g., Dropbox.
· Licensed as notary a plus; must be willing to get licensed as a notary if necessary.
Compensation will commensurate with experience. Office located in South Bay. Local applicants preferred. No smoking in property.
