Utilizes a variety of sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to research and analyze legal topics. Being a Paralegal drafts and edits legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and contracts. Conducts fact-finding, data collection, and analysis used to prepare statements and arguments. Additionally, Paralegal assists attorneys with depositions, interviews, discovery, and investigations. Manages, organizes, and archives documents with software tools and technology. Applies specialized legal terminology appropriately in documents. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to an attorney. The Paralegal work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. To be a Paralegal typically requires 4 -7 years of related experience. The Paralegal is primarily responsible for ensuring our office runs smoothly by promptly processing requests and meeting litigation filing needs of the organization with expedience and thoroughness. This position is ideal for individuals with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.Job responsibilities are likely to include, but are not limited to: maintaining case files and client records to ensure effective organization and awareness of case status at all times; communicating with clients about case developments; drafting emails and letters to opposing counsel and other third parties; drafting and formatting basic legal documents such as affidavits and proposed orders; mastering court policies and practices by communicating with court staff and reviewing applicable rules and statutes; preparing court filings by line editing and cite checking briefs, identifying and compiling exhibits, and reviewing submissions for accuracy and completeness; completing all court filings.Required Skills & Qualifications

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:- Paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited program preferred, or a combination of education and/or experience
- 2-3 years of significant and substantive litigation experience as a paralegal/legal assistant in a public defender’s office or law firm
- Experience drafting, cite-checking, and correcting legal briefs (trial and appellate)
- Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software
