Paralegal assists and supports attorneys with research and document preparation for court proceedings and legal transactions. Utilizes a variety of sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to research and analyze legal topics. Being a Paralegal drafts and edits legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and contracts. Conducts fact-finding, data collection, and analysis used to prepare statements and arguments. Additionally, Paralegal assists attorneys with depositions, interviews, discovery, and investigations. Manages, organizes, and archives documents with software tools and technology. Applies specialized legal terminology appropriately in documents. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to an attorney. The Paralegal work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. To be a Paralegal typically requires 4 -7 years of related experience. A small downtown law firm is looking to hire an experienced Paralegal who will work directly with the Senior Partner. Must have experience in the following:
· Microsoft Word, Outlook, and all other Microsoft programs; Adobe Acrobat Reader and Writer; Civil and Business Litigation; Personal Injury; Research and Writing; Preparation of Pleadings and Briefs;Trial Preparation; Client Meetings and Preparation of Client Forms; Experience in all Court’s Electronic Filing Systems; and Must be able to work unsupervised.
Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and parking is paid. Salary will depend upon experience.
