Utilizes a variety of sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, and legal codes to research and analyze legal topics. Being a Paralegal drafts and edits legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, motions, and contracts. Conducts fact-finding, data collection, and analysis used to prepare statements and arguments. Additionally, Paralegal assists attorneys with depositions, interviews, discovery, and investigations. Manages, organizes, and archives documents with software tools and technology. Applies specialized legal terminology appropriately in documents. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to an attorney. The ideal candidate must be reliable, organized, have a pleasant phone voice, positive attitude, and love working with the public in a high-stress environment.
You will be accountable for creating files, gathering and organizing files, putting documents into their proper location (digitally or hard files), welcoming clients, answering, screening and forwarding phone calls, scheduling appointments, responding to emails, filing, copying, and scanning.
You should also be able to deal with emergencies in a timely and effective manner. Multitasking and stress management skills are essential for this position.
