Paralegal Manager manages and develops the paralegal team and the systems and processes utilized to conduct research and produce legal documents. Responsible for case management by assigning cases and monitoring progress to ensure timely completion. Being a Paralegal Manager validates and oversees the preparation of legal documents, such as briefs, pleadings, motions, appeals, wills, and contracts. Organizes documents into formal report and proofs for attorneys. Additionally, Paralegal Manager provides research and training support to the paralegals utilizing databases and legal libraries. Coordinates with attorneys on special requests or highly complex projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Paralegal Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Paralegal Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Quintairos, Prieto, Wood & Boyer, P.A., a multi-office national firm, has an immediate opening for an experienced Paralegal to join our Pensacola, FL Office.  

     

    JOB SUMMARY: 

    The individual in this role will assist attorneys in defending civil litigation matters. This is a hands-on position that involves working collaboratively with clients and employees of the firm. 

    Responsibilities

    • Under attorney direction drafts and prepares correspondence and other written documents as required including responses,  reports, filings, pleadings, answers, motions, interrogatories, contracts, opinions, position papers, letters, etc.,  and other documents as necessary.  
    • Organizes and analyzes documentary evidence including contracts, medical records, reports, depositions, discovery, investigative and other documents and summaries.  Interpretation and preparation of chronologies and summaries as requested. 
    • Prepares and handles tracking and disposition of subpoenas or other request for information. 
    • Assures organization of files including maintenance and management.   
    • Communicates with clients, witnesses, experts.  
    • Maintains calendar for trial and discovery deadlines. Obtains trial settings, coordinates and assist in preparation.  
    • Performs other duties as assigned.    

    Qualifications

     

    • 1 years of prior paralegal experience, preferably in a high-volume, fast-paced law firm environment 
    • Working knowledge of paralegal concepts, procedures and practices.  
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook and Adobe Acrobat required. 
    • Knowledge of legal research tools such as Westlaw a plus.  
    • Requires critical thinking skills, excellent communication and organizational skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.  
    • High School Diploma or its equivalent required  
    • Paralegal degree/certificate is a plus.  

    Physical Demands 

    This position is considered to be mostly sedentary and will require the employee to sit for extended periods of time. It will also require the employee to occasionally stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. They may engage in bending, stretching, reaching and other motions in the course of a working day. They will be engaged in using office equipment and computers. They may engage in lifting of supplies and materials up to 20 pounds from time to time. While performing duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to see, talk and hear.  

    Working Conditions 

    This job is located primarily in an indoor office environment with varying noise levels. There may be varying degrees of temperature. The employee may be interrupted from time to time.
