Paralegal Supervisor supervises the paralegal team and implements systems and processes utilized to conduct research and produce legal documents. Coordinates the preparation of legal documents and tracks projects to ensure the work is completed accurately and on time. Being a Paralegal Supervisor organizes documents into formal report and proofs for attorneys. Trains paralegals to effectively utilize databases and legal libraries to conduct research. Additionally, Paralegal Supervisor typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically requires Paralegal Certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Paralegal Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments.     Duties

    If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing services in a supervisory capacity. Supervising team leaders with responsibility for coordinating and facilitating workload and activities performed by clerical, technical, administrative, and analytical employees. Typical work assignments will include:

    Planning work to be accomplished by support employees in subordinate units.
    Setting/adjusting short-term priorities and preparing schedules for completion of work.
    Preparing individual work plans, performance standards, and performance evaluations for subordinate staff.
    Interviewing and recommending candidates for subordinate positions.
    Supervising legal research to determine issues and case worthiness.
    Supervising coordination of evidence for presentation in court, discovery process, and preparation regarding responses to pre-trial motions, subpoenas and stipulations.
    Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

    You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
    Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
    You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
    If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
    If selected, you will be subject to the satisfactory completion of a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period unless this requirement has been met previously.
    Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.
    You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement and before placement in the position.
    Qualifications
    In order to qualify for the GS-12 level of this position, you must meet one of the following qualification requirements:

    Specialized Experience: Must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: performing legal research, including research of legislative intent and controversial judicial precedents and case law; performing litigation tasks with trials, hearings, and other legal presentations; interviews witnesses and various individuals who can provide insight into cases under review; prepares documents and evidence to support legal recommendations; and develops and maintains written procedures pertinent to the legal litigation.
