Paralegals are a critical part of DLA Piper’s client service teams, working side by side with lawyers, co-counsel and clients on an array of substantive client matters. The majority of our paralegals are career professionals. They work independently and on teams, locally, nationally, and globally.

What will your day look like?
In this role, your responsibilities encompass a spectrum of legal and administrative tasks. You will meticulously handle filings before Puerto Rico courts, federal courts, and administrative agencies. Assisting in discovery, document production, and fact discovery will be integral to your daily endeavors. Crafting appendices and indexes to appellate writs, especially by Puerto Rico appellate courts, will demand precision and legal acumen.
Your proficiency will extend to the arrangement of the office calendar, diligently managing filings, deadlines, hearings, and conferences. Additionally, you will spearhead the organization and archival of documents, contributing to streamlined processes. Billing, a critical aspect of legal operations, will be executed with exactitude, ensuring adherence to client expectations.
Engaging in clear and effective communication with clients for information requests will be part of your routine. You will actively participate in regulatory filings, demonstrating a keen understanding of legal nuances. The translation of documents between Spanish and English, along with the preparation of summaries and indexes, will require linguistic and analytical skills.
Furthermore, your role will involve supporting evidentiary hearings and trials, summarizing depositions, and aiding in the preparation of indexes for pre-filed direct testimonies. You will also be expected to make governmental filings in connection with the organization of legal entities and tax grant applications, assist with the organization of online data rooms and other tasks related to M&A transactions and oversee trademark and other registries.
Your involvement in immigration visa petitions will encompass compiling documents, processing requests, and monitoring petition status. The role will also entail research tasks, responding to the requests of legal professionals. In essence, each day will present an array of complex yet vital legal responsibilities, demanding your unwavering professionalism and commitment.
