Paramedic provides emergency advanced life support care to patients who are ill and/or injured. Conducts patient assessment to determine the extent of an illness or injury and to establish and prioritize medical procedures to follow. Being a Paramedic performs life support procedures or administers oxygen. Dispenses antiseptic solution to prevent infection, starts and administers intravenous fluids. Additionally, Paramedic performs other emergency medical procedures needed to stabilize patient during transport. Provides an update on patient's condition and status of treatments when transferring to other medical personnel. May require registry in NREMT. Typically requires an associate degree in an accredited Paramedic program. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a manager. The Paramedic works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. To be a Paramedic typically requires 3-5 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

Responds to all emergent and non-emergent calls and/or hospital codes; provides medical support and care for patients in the pre-hospital and/or hospital environment. Assists in the ongoing assessment of patients by identifying the patient’s needs and requirements to determine best course of treatment. NIMS 100, 200, 700
Over 75, need to have medical permission
Licensure/Certification Qualifications:Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification required at time of hire.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification (or must obtain within 6 months of hire).
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license as verified through appropriate licensing agency.
Must meet the driving requirements and criteria acceptable to Essentia Health 's insurer.
State Background check must provide clearance to work with vulnerable adults.
