Paramedic provides emergency advanced life support care to patients who are ill and/or injured. Conducts patient assessment to determine the extent of an illness or injury and to establish and prioritize medical procedures to follow. Being a Paramedic performs life support procedures or administers oxygen. Dispenses antiseptic solution to prevent infection, starts and administers intravenous fluids. Additionally, Paramedic performs other emergency medical procedures needed to stabilize patient during transport. Provides an update on patient's condition and status of treatments when transferring to other medical personnel. May require registry in NREMT. Typically requires an associate degree in an accredited Paramedic program. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a manager. The Paramedic works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.     Description

    Under the direction of the CMTS leadership team, physician medical director, and supervisory staff, paramedics will provide safe and effective ambulance-based medical care at the advanced life support level. They will respond to requests for ambulance transport of patients between healthcare facilities and other locations, and be able to respond to requests for emergency medical services.

    Qualifications


    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school diploma, GED, or other equivalent.
    • Currently certified and in good standing as a paramedic by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Public Health (DPH), Office of Emergency Medical Services (OEMS).
    • Current Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider certification (American Heart Association)
    • Current Advanced Life Support certification (American Heart Association)
    • Current motor vehicle operators license
    • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions using the English language.
