Paramedic provides emergency advanced life support care to patients who are ill and/or injured. Conducts patient assessment to determine the extent of an illness or injury and to establish and prioritize medical procedures to follow. Being a Paramedic performs life support procedures or administers oxygen. Dispenses antiseptic solution to prevent infection, starts and administers intravenous fluids. Additionally, Paramedic performs other emergency medical procedures needed to stabilize patient during transport. Provides an update on patient's condition and status of treatments when transferring to other medical personnel. May require registry in NREMT. Typically requires an associate degree in an accredited Paramedic program. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a manager. The Paramedic works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Collaborate with your fellow EMTs and management to assure top tier patient care. • Be flexible as emergency services operate on a 24-hour clock - your work shift schedule may vary due to the nature of the business. • Remain up to date with current standards of care, including equipment functions and uses and all certifications, licenses and registrations. • Conduct yourself in a courteous, helpful, and professional manner when dealing with patients, co-workers, supervisors, and the public. • Recognize and treat any medical condition with appropriate techniques, equipment, and knowledge of all State and County protocols. • Provide top tier medical transport to medical facilities by assuming responsibilities for medical care of the patient and carrying out established policies and procedures. • Maintain rig cleanliness by stocking the rigs and taking ownership of your space. • Gather patient billing information and appropriate billing signatures. • Prepare and submit a pre-hospital patient care report. • Respond promptly to assignments as required by the Dispatch Center. QUALIFICATIONS: • New York State Paramedic Certification • Hudson Valley REMAC Certification • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record • Valid Healthcare Provider CPR Card • Valid ACLS Certification • Valid PALS Certification • Must be able to lift, push and pull 125 lbs or more • Tech-savvy or comfortable with technology • Able to work on a team • Respectful of colleagues, patients, and supervisor EEO/AAP Statement: DocGo is an equal opportunity employer.
