Paramedic provides emergency advanced life support care to patients who are ill and/or injured. Conducts patient assessment to determine the extent of an illness or injury and to establish and prioritize medical procedures to follow. Being a Paramedic performs life support procedures or administers oxygen. Dispenses antiseptic solution to prevent infection, starts and administers intravenous fluids. Additionally, Paramedic performs other emergency medical procedures needed to stabilize patient during transport. Provides an update on patient's condition and status of treatments when transferring to other medical personnel. May require registry in NREMT. Typically requires an associate degree in an accredited Paramedic program. Requires Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a manager. The Paramedic works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function.     PARAMEDIC- Job Description

    • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and company information.
    • Reports verbally and in writing/electronically, their observation and emergency medical care of the patient at the emergency scene and in transit, to the receiving medical facility staff for purposes of records and diagnostics.
    • Assume responsibility for EMS scene in the absence of higher level staff, provide direction and supervision to other employees at an emergency medical scene; provides and directs advance life support patient care and transport.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Must be able to lift a minimum of 100lbs.
    • Ability to pass Washington State drivers check and a drug urinalysis.
    • Operate and maintain emergency medical apparatus and equipment.

    Education/Experience:

    • High school graduate or GED
    • EMT-Paramedic experience preferred but not required
    • Ability to interpret local ALS protocols, company policies and procedures, and apply them in specific situations.

    Licenses/Certifications:

    • Active Washington State EMT-Paramedic Certification with DOH/or completed Paramedic Training and awaiting agency affiliation to complete certification
    • Current AHA health care provider CPR, ACLS, PALS
    • Maintain/Possess current Washington State driver?s license

    Physical Requirements

    Job entails interrupted sleep, walking, sitting, standing, reaching, bending, and twisting/turning, manual dexterity, frequent lifting, use of keyboard and hand/eye coordination. Job also requires normal hearing, vision and speaking abilities.
