Being a Park Naturalist is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Naturalist/Environmental Educator
Recreation and Parks
Seeking individual committed to hands-on education with a warm, energetic personality that appreciates sharing nature with others. This position is responsible for creating and facilitating positive environmental education interactions through a variety of programming. Must be able to adapt and provide programming for all ages and abilities. This person will be responsible for working with Recreation and Parks Program Manager to develop these programs. This position averages 5 hours per week and is limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week.
Minimum Qualifications
All positions may require a High School diploma or G.E.D. and some positions, when applicable, require applicants to meet a minimum age requirement, possess a valid driving license (with the proper endorsement) and/or possess specialized training, including but not limited to a current CPR and First Aid certification by time of employment.
All positions require a clear criminal background check, negative drug screen, and a clean driving record (for positions that require driving).
Successful candidates must present required evidence of appropriate experience and background/references and be able to demonstrate required ability/skill.
Required - strong background in environmental education and experience leading programs. Work includes weekends and evenings.
Schedule and Compensation
Part-time schedules are limited to a maximum of 29 hours per week. These positions may require work on some holidays, nights and weekends. Part-time positions with the City of Sandy Springs are not eligible for any employment benefits.
Seasonal employees may be scheduled to work up to 40 hours per week. Seasonal positions are temporary in nature and seasonal employment does not infer or imply any permanent status or employment relationship with the City of Sandy Springs. Seasonal workers are not eligible for any employment benefits. These positions may require work on some holidays, nights and weekends.
