Park Naturalist plans, develops, and conducts programs to inform the public of historical, natural, and scientific features concerning national, state, or local parks. May require a bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being a Park Naturalist is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs semiskilled work opening, closing and monitoring facility operations; ensuring safety and cleanliness of facilities and equipment, and related work as required. Work is performed under limited supervision including nights, weekends, and holidays. General hours will be within these hours:
Starting In November through February
Friday from 5:00pm – 10:00pm
Saturday and Sunday from 6:00am – 10:00pm (8-hour shift during these hours)
March through October
Monday – Friday from 5:00pm – 10:00pm
Saturday and Sunday 6:00am – 11:00pm (8-hour shift during these hours)
These hours can vary bases on the Athletic Seasons. This position may also be asked on occasion to work later than the specified time depending on the needs of tournament play.
The following duties are those considered most essential to the position. This does not preclude the delegation of other duties considered as necessary by management to successfully complete an assignment or project. Opens and closes parks and facilities; unlocks and locks bathroom doors, gates and concessions.
