Park Naturalist plans, develops, and conducts programs to inform the public of historical, natural, and scientific features concerning national, state, or local parks. May require a bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being a Park Naturalist is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Seeking a creative and enthusiastic adult who enjoys working with people and sharing their love of the natural world. Experience with children or leading group activities, excellent presentation and communication skills, a strong work ethic, familiarity with Earth Education, exposure to outdoor recreational skills, and a personal commitment to the natural world are preferred. Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). A degree in Environmental Science or Nature Education preferred but not required. This position is eligible to participate in the District’s retirement plan (IMRF).
