May require a bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being a Park Naturalist is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Summary:
As a representative of Moncus Park, we seek a Groundskeeper that will provide excellent guest experiences through the outstanding quality of work performed. Our Groundskeepers provide assistance in all manner of care and maintenance of Moncus Park including all hardscapes, perimeters, dog park, facilities, pond, play features, water features, and more. It is expected that our Groundskeepers will work with other staff, volunteers and community partners to perform their primary tasks as well as supplementary tasks needed to enhance park grounds.
Essential Job Functions:
· Provides general landscape care and maintenance within an assigned section including but not limited to mulching, cutting lawns, blowing paths, applying pesticides, etc.
· Cares for and maintains all planting beds, hardscapes, dog park, pond, restrooms, play areas, equipment, walking paths and trails
· Maintains trash receptacles and pet waste stations
· Maintains dog park turf, landscape, and equipment at optimal standard
· Performs daily park procedures such as bollards installation and removal, debris/limb removal, furniture setup, restroom maintenance, etc.
· Provides event preparation and assistance as needed that includes but is not limited to installing temporary event fencing/signage, furniture setup and breakdown, tents and flagging, etc.
· Supports waste management operations by picking up litter in parking lots, paths, landscape, lawn and along pond edge as well as the utilization of the outlined composting and recycling processes
· Maintains surface drainage by keeping catch basins free of debris during heavy rainstorms
· Performs pond management tasks such as invasive species removal
· Performs minor maintenance duties (such as painting or pressure washing) when directed
Related Work:
· Utilizes hand equipment such as shovels, weed eaters, blowers, hand rakes, pressure washers, etc.
· Maintains tools and equipment in good working order and report items that require repair
· Participates in all training sessions and seminars
· Communicates daily reports of malfunctioning infrastructure, furnishings, safety hazards, quality of life issues
· Operates maintenance machinery including but not limited to zero turn lawn mowers, weed eaters, tillers, edgers, and chainsaws
· Operates UTV or golf cart as needed
· Performs related work as assigned

· Guest Services – Play a vital role in providing a guest experience of excellent quality by interacting with park guests and colleagues in a courteous and professional manner
· Professionalism – Carry oneself in a respectful manner to ensure community confidence in the Park and in our team while always wearing a badge/identification
· Collaboration – Work with or assist volunteers, seasonal interns, and partner programs to ensure optimal success
· Cooperation – Work with other staff within the department and other department personnel to complete assigned tasks
· Initiative - Display the necessary attitude and dependability to do what it takes to get the job done
· Safety – Report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities and have knowledge of all park rules and regulations
Qualifications:
· A four-year high school diploma or equivalent
· Proven professional work experience in landscaping, park maintenance or horticulture
· Valid drivers’ license that must be maintained for duration of employment
· A strong knowledge of soil and plant science
· 1-2 years of professional work experience in landscaping, park maintenance or horticulture
Abilities/Physical Requirements:
· Active work: exerting the necessary amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Workload may involve walking and standing for long periods of time.
· Sitting or standing, bending, stooping, and the ability to carry items up to 40 lbs.
· Constant, adequate range of motion and mobility required
· Ability to exchange and express ideas by means of language expected
· Adherence to safety protocols including but not limited to the use of safety goggles and ear protection
Environmental/Working Conditions
· Working long hours between breaks and meals
· Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner required
