Detailed Job Description
The standard work schedule for the Parking Services Officer is primarily Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm. The schedule may also include night and weekend coverage in order to provide support for RIT events. The Parking Services Officer monitors numerous parking facilities on campus for compliance with RIT parking regulations.
Responsibilities
-
Issue parking citations.
-
Assist with scofflaw violators and towing/booting procedures.

Identify and report abandoned/neglected vehicles on campus.

Observe other physical aspects of facilities (signs, pavement, etc.).

Report suspicious activities that affect safety on campus.

Cross train to assist at the Welcome Center as needed.

Assist with parking during special events.

Answer questions from the campus community & provide directions as necessary.

Parking and Transportation Services provides safe, convenient, reliable and cost-effective parking and transportation for students, faculty, staff and visitors to RIT.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience-
2-3 years customer service experience

High school diploma or GED
Skills-
Must be responsible for managing relationships with customers and colleagues in an open, honest, direct and respectful manner.

Must be flexible.
-
Needs to be self-motivated and able to pay attention to detail.
-
Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions, sometimes on foot patrol.

Strong communication skills to interact with a diverse campus population.
-
Must continually reinforce the department's commitment to conduct that is courteous, friendly, helpful and cooperative to students, staff, co-workers, and visitors.
PLEASE NOTE: The individual hired for this position will be required to have a pre-employment Motor Vehicle check, and the Motor Vehicle Report must clear RIT's Safe Driving Policy.
