Parole Officer is responsible for managing designated cases for prisoners who are on parole. Assesses the needs of the parolee, schedules and sets standards for supervision and creates reports on progress and behavior. Being a Parole Officer is responsible for scheduling or supervising rehabilitation program attendance and progress. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Parole Officer typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Parole Officer gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. This work is regular or special detail police work in protecting life and property on the campus. Work involves professional response to the need for the prevention and detection of crimes, and for generally maintaining law and order. Work also involves patrolling assigned areas, traffic enforcement, accident reporting, and criminal investigations. Assignments are received from superior officers and are carried out under established policies and procedures. The employee must exercise quick, independent, and sound judgment and display initiative in applying work methods to emergency situations which arise when superior officers are not immediately available. Work requires dedication to public service, often made difficult by emotional or physical stress of events. Work is reviewed through conferences, written reports, inspections, and observation or results obtained.
Required Qualifications: Will fully comply with the requirements for peace officers as set forth in the Georgia Peace Officers' Standards and training Act, as defined by the Georgia Peace Officers' Standards and Training Council.
