Job Description
Director of Student Ministries
The presumed priority of every CMCA staff position is to work with joy as a member of a body of Christ who performs his/her tasks to the glory of God, ultimately resulting in making disciples of Jesus Christ.
We are seeking a Spirit-filled, passionate, creative, and energetic leader who would build young disciples for Jesus Christ by developing and implementing a comprehensive approach to student ministry emphasizing small groups, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach. The Director of Student Ministries will serve as a spiritual leader, mentor, and role model for students, between 7th and 12th grades, within the church and community. This is an exciting opportunity this is to build a relational discipleship-based student program from the ground up in a youth-oriented environment of Auburn, Alabama.
Responsibilities:
· Plan, develop and implement all aspects of a vibrant student ministry.
· Mentor students in developing their spiritual leadership skills.
· Recruit and train volunteers to work with all aspects of student ministry.
· Coordinate and plan Sunday School curriculum for students in partnership with a team of teachers to help enhance the youth experience on Sunday morning.
· Regularly encourage and invite students to be present in worship on Sunday mornings and then interact with them once present.
· Oversee and coordinate youth activities throughout the week (weeknights, small groups, Sunday night activities, mission projects, special events, etc.).
· Partner with children’s ministry leaders to help with transition from children’s ministry to youth ministry.
· Communicate and coordinate in a timely manner with youth parents and guardians, utilizing all available resources (email, text, phone, website, social media, digital newsletter).
· Build healthy relationships with church staff, lay leadership and the congregation to achieve the mission of the youth ministry in concert with the overall ministry focus of the entire congregation.
· Make yourself available to youth outside of the church campus, including but not limited to breakfast, school lunches, attendance at extracurricular activities, visitation, and counseling.
· Facilitate youth/student leadership in other areas of the church such as worship, hospitality, missions, children’s ministry, etc..
· Create an inviting, hospitable, open, and safe environment that offers youth and their families the opportunity to worship, grow, serve, and connect. Challenge youth to invite friends and acquaintances to attend church and become involved.
· Coordinate, plan, oversee and lead youth-involved mission efforts both locally, regionally and globally.
· Be aware of resources for developing the youth ministry program and participate in continuing education events and training opportunities as budget allows.
· Ensure the Ministry Safe policy is observed at all youth ministry activities.
· Oversee and maintain the Youth budget and handle all financial considerations that are associated with youth ministry within the church.
· Coordinate a youth leadership team that involves youth and youth parents to provide vital counsel, direction and prayer for youth ministry matters.
· Other duties as assigned.

· Minimum of five years in local church youth ministry preferred.

· Must have vision for youth ministry and a demonstrated ability to plan, develop, coordinate, manage and implement ministry that is focused on 7th-12th graders within the Wesleyan theological traditions and is appropriate for physical, cognitive, emotional, relational, and spiritual growth.
· Computer skills
· Must live in Auburn area (within 15 miles of the church)
· Must be able to handle physical activity.
