Discipleship Pastor

  •  Position Summary 

    The Discipleship Pastor at Vox will oversee the development of key programs aimed at connecting people of the church to one another and to an ever-deepening daily walk of faith with Jesus Christ. This leadership position is charged with the implementation of the overall discipleship matrix for the church that aims to effectively position people to move and grow in their relationship with Jesus by targeting three key areas for holistic faith development: head, heart, and hands. Therefore, oversight and ongoing development of the discipleship system includes the following areas of program: Community Groups, Core Groups, Leaders Circles, and the Encounter (Heart); Following Jesus and Essentials Classes as well as Vox Institute oversight and Bible Study offerings, (Head); Servant Teams and Outreach. (Hands) 


    Lastly, the Discipleship Pastor will also oversee the utilization of the discipleship matrix to act as the major platform for Men’s and Women’s ministry efforts at the church location level. 

     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

    • Ensure the creation of effective connection of people to one another as they pursue relationship with and growth in Christ through providing effective oversight and leadership to the Groups Pastor. 
    • Work with the Groups Pastor to review and further develop community group and CORE group curriculum offerings. 
    • Provide leadership that ensures effective integration of Community Groups and Outreach/Impact Service efforts with the goal of fostering a culture where rhythms of service are a regular part of community group identity. 
    • Ensure campus leadership (CP’s, CLT, etc.) is properly resourced/trained to effectively move people through the discipleship matrix. 
    • Provide leadership and oversight to the Vox Institute, overseeing effective implementation of all related systems, and ensuring scalable offerings of classes at all determined locations. 
    • Oversee the creation and maintenance of sustainable program to integrate Men’s and Women’s Ministry efforts into the discipleship matrix. 

    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) 
     
    • Evidence personal calling and passion to come alongside people and support their desire to grow in their faith walk with Jesus. 
    • Possess a working understanding of how people learn and grow. 
    • Competency in building systems. 
    • Possess a passion for God’s Word and its place in the formation of a faith-life in Christ that endures. 
    • Have experience in leading small groups. 
    • Evidence keen ability in and history of disciple-making. 
    • Proactive self-starter; enthusiastic, hardworking. 
    • Be a team builder and have a proven ability to lead/vision cast, manage, and develop other leaders. 
    • Strength and passion for managing and ministering through others. 
    • Strong Communicator 
    • Evidence mature application of the Spiritual Disciplines in one’s life. 

    EDUCATION/BACKGROUND
     

    4-5 years in church or parachurch ministry preferred. 
    B.A. or M.A. in an area of Biblical Studies, Theology or Christian Ministry preferred.
