The Pastor of Congregational Care (Visitation Pastor) assists the Sr. Pastor of GUMC, the spiritual and administrative leader of the church. The Visitation Pastor must have in-depth scriptural and theological knowledge, strong verbal and written communication skills, leadership, along with effective interpersonal skills for individual counseling, prayer, and group interactions. This position is part-time, requiring evening and weekend work. Position requires travel within New Hanover, Brunswick, Pender Counties, and other places where Grace Congregation members live.

Position Overview

• Builds the body of Christ as a caring and giving community extending the ministry of Christ to the world
• Oversees and tracks all GUMC visitation. Develops and administers GUMC visitatin policy, subject to Sr. Pastor approval, describing how various GUMC visitation resources (e.g., clergy, self, laity visitation teams, etc.) will provide safe, effective, and efficient visitation coverage.
• Ensures laity visitation team members have appopriate training and background checks.
• Visits new members, members requiring pastoral care, and inactive members
• Collects metrics and provides monthly reporting on GUMC visitation activity.
• Supports the Sr. Pastor, laity organizations and individuals including the UWF (United Women of Faith) and men's and women's visitation teams.
• Leads Prayer team
• Participates in worship on Sundays and preaches on occasion
• Performs Weddings as scheduled
• Supports functions such as Sunday School and Bible Study

ADMINISTRATIVE AND GENERAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Attends weekly staff meetings
• Provides input into budget as required
• Provides input into weekly bulletin as required

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $30,000.00 - $37,500.00 per year

Expected hours: 25 per week
