    The Assistant Director of Liturgy for Liturgical and Pastoral Music collaboratively develops and advances the holistic vision for liturgy and music, especially within the Catholic context, as an integral part of the Liturgy Team in Campus Ministry. Directs the Undergraduate Music Ministry Program, a comprehensive formation program for student music ministers, and is responsible for their recruitment, formation, instruction, coordination, and further program development. Cultivates an appreciation for musical prayer in the campus community and provides or ensures leadership for music ministry at regular campus liturgies, special event liturgies, funerals/memorials, and other special prayer services. Practices a collaborative style of ministerial leadership, evangelization and relationship development to recruit, develop and direct volunteer musicians, lead assembly music, select liturgical music from a variety of cultural and musical styles, and provide catechetical and spiritual formation for student choir directors, music ministers, and assemblies. Maintains and further develops relationships with other university departments (Department of Music, Religious Studies, etc.) by offering ministerial support and advancing curricular and co-curricular opportunities. Coordinates and ensures appropriate music for weddings that occur in the Immaculate Conception Chapel.
    In light of the job duties associated with this position, the University considers the individual holding this position to be acting as a minister of the Catholic faith.
    Full-time 10.5 months, part-time (50%) summer 1.5 months, additional pay when electing to play for weddings. Full benefits. Salary commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.



    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s Degree.
    One-year full-time ministry experience or equivalent (such as at least 2 years part-time professional ministry OR 3 years volunteering in a ministry capacity).
    Willingness to work evening (1-2x/week), weekend (minimally 1 Sunday Mass), and holiday hours and be on call for occasional pastoral emergencies (e.g.: funerals).
    Knowledge of the breadth of Catholic liturgical music and Catholic liturgical rites.
    Ability to teach and form music ministers and the assembly in principles of liturgy and liturgical music.
    Experience in directing a music program, both choral and instrumental elements.
    Proficiency in piano or organ sufficient to lead congregational and choral singing.
    Desire to embody Catholic and Marianist traditions as a practicing Catholic, exhibiting public conduct and ministerial practices reflective of the teachings of the Catholic Church (clarified in hiring process).



    Preferred Qualifications:

    While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

    Bachelor’s degree in music, sacred music, or related field.
    Master's degree in related field such as liturgy, theology, pastoral ministry, pastoral music, divinity, music, sacred music or related field.
    Proficiency in piano sufficient to lead congregational and choral singing.
    Three years full-time ministry experience with strong roles in Roman Catholic liturgy and/or liturgical preparation.
    Demonstrated experience with evangelization, liturgical catechesis and ministerial accompaniment, especially among young adults, that leads to deepening relationship with God and one another in the faith community.
    Ability to recruit, train, supervise and mentor a diverse group of young adults in a campus ministry setting.
    Planning prayer and worship across a diverse range of liturgical styles and spiritualities with attention to music and aesthetics.
    Knowledge and/or experience developing prayer and worship expressive of the social and cultural diversity of the campus community.
    Use of musical software and other technologies for music implementation (e.g sound equipment).
    Strong oral and written communication skills.
    Bi/multilingual competence appropriate to support liturgy (Spanish).
    Taking initiative with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    Collaborative and communicative interpersonal leadership skills.
