SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Chief Executive Officer and in collaboration with the Chief Medical Director and the Director of Operations, the Clinical Director oversees and coordinates clinic operations in a way that supports business goals and patient needs. The Clinical Director ensures high-quality patient care, develops policies, maintains accurate records, drives improvements and supports the organizations success.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Assist managers and supervisors in coordinating office functions to ensure smooth flowing clinic operations, and organize/run patient care operations and programs
Provides primary support to clinic managers and supervisors and contributes to team efficiency by giving support both operationally and administratively
Work collaboratively with other managers/directors within the entire organization (including, but not limited to behavioral health, dental, quality and pharmacy) to ensure an integrated health model of care is achieved
Develops, interprets and implements cost effective policies, objectives and operational procedures for business and clinical staff for all operational areas with the overall goal of increasing clinic utilization and achieving organizational goals
Recommends changes in administrative policies to carry out the organizational objectives more effectively while considering Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) initiatives with responsibility to implement and monitor PCMH requirements with the Quality Manager
Ensures that all medical records and other documentation are current and within state and federal laws
Assists in the preparation of budgets and allocation of funds, based on studies of cost, and reviews clinic budget estimates
Works closely with managers and supervisors to contribute to team efficiency by giving support both operationally and administratively
Consults frequently with providers, management, staff, and peers to ensure program implementation and resolution of issues
Works to ensure practice transformation as it relates to customer service, patient follow-up and outreach
Understands the scope of the practice site and has a working knowledge of all aspects of the clinical back and front offices
Has knowledge of computer applications including electronic health record systems, Microsoft Office products, as well as other software systems
Maintains oversight of patient issues relative to discharges, provider changes and all other concerns
In conjunction with the clerical supervisor/lead, assists with scheduling of all clinical providers including building and maintaining individual schedules
Assists with evaluating and providing feedback on job performance, attendance, and quality and quantity of work for clinical and clerical staff
Assists managers and supervisors with conducting annual performance reviews and disciplinary actions
Assists with hiring, onboarding, directing, mentoring and developing staff
Collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary professional staff to ensure quality patient care standard are met
Protects patients and employees by assisting with developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols, and by enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations
Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by monitoring confidential information processing
Ensures operations of medical and administrative equipment by monitoring preventive maintenance requirements, troubleshooting malfunctions and requesting repairs
Maintains a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information, responding to requests, and participating in team problem-solving methods
Attends required meetings, participates in committees as requested, prepares reports and manages assigned projects
Recruits employees to ensure department is staffed with qualified personnel
Maintains a courteous, helpful, and conscientious attitude in dealing with co-workers, patients, and their families, ensuring professionalism and confidentiality at all times
Assist with payroll
Assist Chief Medical Officer with monitoring provider productivity and open encounters
Regular and prompt attendance at work
All other duties assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Has primary oversight of the medical clinic with direct supervision of the Patient Care Supervisor and Clerical Supervisor. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures and applicable laws.

EDUCATION/ CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current Michigan Registered Nurse license required. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing from an approved school of nursing. A minimum of 8 years of demonstrated working experience in an acute care setting as a registered nurse with 5 years of leadership experience (charge nurse, supervisor, team lead). Current BLS certification (or BLS completion within 60 days of hire). Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and computer skills required.
