JOB SUMMARY

Administrative responsibility for the Department of Pastoral Care in all of its spiritual support services and educational programming, including, but not limited to the department’s nationally accredited Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program. Develops, organizes, and directs department activities pertaining to provision of pastoral care, guidance and training to students, patients, families and Hospital employees in accordance with philosophy, mission statement and objectives of the Hospital. The Director of Pastoral Care has responsibility for overall supervision of the ACPE-accredited Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program for students, residents and Supervisory Education Students.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Requires Master's of Divinity degree or equivalent of formal theological education from a theological seminary accredited by the Association of Theological Schools, and additional course-work in the field of Business Administration. A PhD degree in Religious Studies, Theology, Pastoral Care and Counseling, or a related field, in addition to the M.Div. degree, is preferred.
• Requires at least five years of professional pastoral ministry in a clinical setting; experience in an academic medical center is preferred. Requires at least three years of recent and progressive experience in administrative responsibilities for Pastoral Care.
• Requires current ordination as a minister, pastor, or recognized spiritual leader and endorsement for specialized ministry from a nationally recognized religious community.
• Requires ACPE-certification as a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Supervisor.
• Additional certification as a professional health care chaplain through the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) preferred.
