Patent Attorney determines potential of granting patents on inventions or trademarks, and monitors possibility of infringement. Responsible for preparing and filing patent applications and trademark registrations, litigating pending applications and registrations, and reporting possible violations. Being a Patent Attorney prosecutes violations of organization's registrations and/or patents. Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Additionally, Patent Attorney requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Patent Attorney work is closely managed. This job requires attention to detail. It is equally a legal assistant job as it is accounting. The individual we are looking for should have a strong understanding of Quickbooks as you will be required to input daily accounts receivable and account payables. We do invoices once a month to clients, as well as keeping a ledger of collections. You will spend the other half of your time assisting the attorney with the preparation and filing of Court documents as they are needed for his clients. Other daily tasks include: answering phones, updating ledgers, and transcribing documents for Court.
