Patent Attorney determines potential of granting patents on inventions or trademarks, and monitors possibility of infringement. Responsible for preparing and filing patent applications and trademark registrations, litigating pending applications and registrations, and reporting possible violations. Being a Patent Attorney prosecutes violations of organization's registrations and/or patents. Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Additionally, Patent Attorney requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Patent Attorney work is closely managed. In addition to experience with bankruptcy proceedings, candidates will have litigation experience, demonstrate excellent academic and professional credentials; possess superior oral and written communication skills; have outstanding legal research, analytical, and legal reasoning skills; and the ability to function with minimal guidance in a demanding legal environment. Candidates must also have an active WV law license or be eligible for admission.
