    CLERICAL SPECIALIST I

    Assignments may be a combination of, but not limited to the following, and / or similar clerical tasks :

    Entering and updating information into office systems, pulling files, preparing folders, preparing oar filing office correspondence and documents, extracting and / or copying information from one record to another, photocopying / printing documents, stamping / sorting / distributing mail, addressing envelops, answering phones, conveying messages, serving as receptionist, performing various office delivery runs and other miscellaneous duties as required.

    This clerical work requires work which requires the exercise of some independent judgment, attention to detail and accuracy.

    Essential Job Duties :

    • Dependable and routine in-office attendance during regularly scheduled business hours.
    • Work effectively as a team contributor as well as independently.
    • Assist other divisions / offices.
    • Work at the switchboard / reception desk and handle outgoing, interoffice or incoming calls.
    • Ability to answer phone and take messages as required.
    • Take and relay messages.
    • Announce when visitors arrive.
    • Relay important information.
    • Handle emergency calls.
    • Assist callers with other questions.
    • Effective and efficient communication skills and ability to interact professionally with other employees, members of the public and stake holders.
    • Receive / notarize / stamp / distribute incoming paperwork.
    • Organize, process and / or deliver mail and other legal documents.
    • stamping / sorting / distributing mail, addressing envelops
    • Process complaint affidavits and create case files.
    • Ability to focus and pay attention to detail.
    • Ability to read and comprehend.
    • Ability to operate a computer and other office machinery.
    • Entering and updating information into office systems.
    • Input, retrieve, update, verify and delete information using computer at a very efficient rate of speed.
    • Update case management system and assist with data collection and reports.
    • Efficient typing skills.
    • Requisitioning / ordering / receiving / storing / issuing office supplies.
    • Ability to read and follow rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

    Overview of the Office of the State Attorney :

    Pursuant to Article V, Section 17, of the Constitution of the State of Florida, the State Attorney is charged with the duty of faithfully executing and enforcing the laws of the State of Florida.

    The Florida State Constitution provides that there be an elected State Attorney in each of the twenty judicial circuits.

    The State Attorney is the prosecuting officer of all the circuit and county trial courts.

    Consistent with and necessary to the performance of these duties, the State Attorney provides personnel and procedures for the orderly, efficient and effective investigation, intake and processing of all felony, misdemeanors, criminal traffic, juvenile and specially enumerated civil cases referred by law enforcement, other state, county and municipal agencies and the general public.
