Patent Attorney determines potential of granting patents on inventions or trademarks, and monitors possibility of infringement. Responsible for preparing and filing patent applications and trademark registrations, litigating pending applications and registrations, and reporting possible violations. Being a Patent Attorney prosecutes violations of organization's registrations and/or patents. Requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Additionally, Patent Attorney requires admittance to a state bar. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Patent Attorney work is closely managed. We will train you to use proprietary patent search and analysis software, and to write Patent Office Action Responses, draft patent applications, etc.
Required Background:
You must have a strong technical background in Engineering, Computer Science, or high-tech. An advanced degree is preferred but not required. Experience with patents and new technologies is a plus. This position is a great fit for a patent agent or attorney who is interested in helping clients strategically develop patent portfolios to protect their cutting-edge technology.
