Pathology Assistant under the supervision of a pathologist assists with preparing and dissecting surgical specimens. Prepares and selects tissue samples for analysis. Being a Pathology Assistant may record findings or sterilize equipment. Requires a bachelor's/master's degree from an accredited program. Additionally, Pathology Assistant may require certification as a pathologist assistant. Typically reports to a pathologist. To be a Pathology Assistant typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Creates accessions with patient information and specimen information.
Properly labels paperwork and specimens.
Accurately transcribes patient information from paperwork into company software.
Checks cases to ensure that all information is accurate and does not contain typos.
Ability to type and attention to detail required.
