Being a Pathology Assistant may record findings or sterilize equipment. Requires a bachelor's/master's degree from an accredited program. Additionally, Pathology Assistant may require certification as a pathologist assistant. Typically reports to a pathologist. To be a Pathology Assistant typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Responsibilities
The Department of Pathology at the University of South Alabama (USA) in Mobile is currently recruiting for a part-time BC/BE Pediatric pathologist. Alabama license is required. The opening is for an assistant/associate/full professor on a clinical track. Additional information about the department is available at www.usahealthsystem.com/pathology. The Division of Anatomic Pathology handles about 17,000 surgical and 4,500 cytology cases a year and it is expanding rapidly. The Division of Anatomic Pathology serves USA Health University Hospital, USA Health Children’s & Women’s Hospital, and the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute. The two hospitals are licensed for 550 beds combined. Molecular/next generation sequencing, cytogenetics, immunohistochemistry, FISH, and electron microscopy laboratories are part of the sophisticated menu of tests available. The Department has a combined residency training program in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with 12 residents. We offer an outstanding compensation package.
