Location: Los Gatos, CA 95032

Status: Part Time (Monday-Friday, 5:30 PM - 10:30 PM) or Full Time (Monday-Friday, 3 PM to 11:30 PM)

Permanent/Temporary: Permanent

Starting compensation: $20/hr

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• College Degree
• Must be able to type 45 WPM
• Organizational skills within a lab setting, including those associated with computer data entry and basic understanding of medical insurances
• Knowledgeable in IntelliPath software

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receiving and screening insurances of incoming specimens
• Accessioning (data entry) patient information and labeling of specimen bottles
• Printing accession number on cassettes
• Process cytology (ex: sperm, thyroid, cell block)
• Hazardous waste disposal
• Quality control for the requisitions, cassette and slide labels
• Pull blocks for re-cut slides
• Input immunos data at the autostainer workstation (Dako/Roche)
• Cover slipping
• Print slides labels for Dominican Hospital and in-house cases
• Send out specimen due to insurance reasons
• If needed, phone calls to Dominican for any clarification on requests sent via fax
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Security/HIPAA Access Level 3

• Ability to stand, walk and sit for long periods of time

• Ability to practice strict safety precautions when handling biological specimens and chemicals
• Ability to perform laboratory procedures accurately and quickly under stressful conditions and to adapt to changing situations

• Ability to organize, prioritize, and assume responsibility for one’s work
• Ability to communicate in a professional, positive, tactful manner
