Pathology Assistant under the supervision of a pathologist assists with preparing and dissecting surgical specimens. Prepares and selects tissue samples for analysis. Being a Pathology Assistant may record findings or sterilize equipment. Requires a bachelor's/master's degree from an accredited program. Additionally, Pathology Assistant may require certification as a pathologist assistant. Typically reports to a pathologist. To be a Pathology Assistant typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. The Pathology Lab Assistant is responsible for supporting the Histology department staff with all clerical and ancillary duties as needed.
This position works under the direction of the supervisor and follows standard Laboratory procedures and policies.
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:
1-3 years’ experience working in a Histology Laboratory as a Pathology/Histology Assistant.
Minimum Of a High School diploma (GED)/ associate degree ideal.
Responsibilities:
Assist the pathology department in processing specimens by verifying patient information on requisition and biopsy container and accessioning into the pathology computer system accurately and in a timely manner.
This position is a part time position. Hours are 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm Monday- Friday
Note: Candidate must be flexible with hours to accommodate heavy volume days as they occur.
