Ophthalmic Assistant / Technician
Fast growing ophthalmology practice focused on advanced delivery of medical and surgical retinal care, is seeking an ophthalmic technician who can also assist in other matters as needed. As an ophthalmic assistant you will work with physician and clerical staff to facilitate the efficient daily flow of patients. You will fulfill multiple functions such as acquiring health histories from patients, measuring vision, assisting the surgeon with procedures and performing diagnostic tests. You will document patient care in the EMR, scribe for the surgeon, monitor and facilitate patient flow in the clinic, answer patient questions, address concerns, and/or refer patient questions to the doctor as appropriate. You will also assist the front desk by returning phone calls, scheduling patients and obtaining some insurance authorization.
On the job training will be offered and progression to certification (Certified Ophthalmic Assistant/Certified Ophthalmic Technician) will be supported and encouraged.
