Pathology Assistant under the supervision of a pathologist assists with preparing and dissecting surgical specimens. Prepares and selects tissue samples for analysis. Being a Pathology Assistant may record findings or sterilize equipment. Requires a bachelor's/master's degree from an accredited program. Additionally, Pathology Assistant may require certification as a pathologist assistant. Typically reports to a pathologist. To be a Pathology Assistant typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Overview
Southwestern Vermont Medical Center is seeking a Community Pathologist to join its collegial and collaborative Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Department. This position will be based at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Bennington, Vermont. This position will work with another pathologist located at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and it is expected that both pathologists will work closely together to share in the clinical responsibilities for the hospital.
Qualifications
- BC/BE in Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology
- Ability to obtain and maintain medical licenses in Vermont.
